The prestigious Czapek Antarctique makes its debut in solid gold with the unveiling of the Mount Erebus models. Inspired by the awe-inspiring southernmost active volcano.

At the helm of this remarkable creation is Xavier de Roquemaurel, CEO of Czapek, who shares insight into the genesis of these extraordinary timepieces.

“The demand for an Antarctique model in a precious metal, and more specifically in gold, was so strong among a certain type of collectors that we could not ignore it,” he explains.

Delving deep into the brand’s heritage and the geographical wonders of Antarctica, the Mount Erebus collection takes its name from the renowned volcano known for its daily expulsion of gold into the atmosphere.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the Mount Erebus models boast vertically brushed blue dials that beautifully contrast against the mixed finishing of the 40.5mm cases.

The Antarctique Mount Erebus is perfectly sized for the discerning modern market, measuring at 40.5mm x 10.6mm. Additionally, both the 2N yellow gold and the 5N rose gold variants are available in a smaller 38.5mm size, catering to diverse preferences.

The distinctive blue dials pay homage to Czapek’s inaugural Antarctique model, the Terre Adélie, and are crafted in collaboration with Metalem, utilizing a unique combing technique to achieve a mesmerizing texture. The applied indices seamlessly taper towards the dial, with meticulous attention given to every detail, including the date window, which features beveling and a color-matched date wheel for a harmonious aesthetic.

For those seeking the luxurious allure of solid gold without the weight, Czapek offers the Mount Erebus on a rubber strap in multiple colors, providing a comfortable yet stylish alternative.

Powering the Antarctique models is Czapek’s in-house SXH5 calibre, renowned for its exceptional performance and exquisite decoration. The micro-rotor design allows for a slim profile of just 10.6mm, while providing a generous 60-hour power reserve at 4Hz.

The Czapek Antarctique Mount Erebus is a testament to exclusivity, with only 50 pieces available in yellow gold and 100 pieces in rose gold. Anticipated to be released in the second quarter of 2024, these exquisite timepieces are priced at US$35,000 (CHF 31,000) for the rubber strap option and US$59,000 (CHF 52,300) for the gold bracelet variant.
