While Rolex remains the official timekeeper of Formula 1, their sister brand, Tudor, is joining the sport for the first time as the official partner of the recently rebranded Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team (VCARB).
This isn’t the first time Tudor have been involved in motorsport, far from it. In the late 1960s, they sponsored the Tudor Watch Racing Team who raced a Porsche 906. In 2015, Tudor began a three-year sponsorship of the Historic Grand Prix in Zandvoort in which they offered 12 of their Heritage Chronograph watches to race winners. So no, Tudor is no stranger to motorsport.
Alongside Scuderia AlphaTauri’s rebranding to the longwinded Visa Cash App RB F1 Team, Tudor will be joining them alongside drivers Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo. The goal is to reposition the team away from their role as a junior proving ground for Red Bull.
It seems Tudor has been working closer with Red Bull recently with another partnership announced in June with Alinghi Red Bull Racing, an America’s Cup racing team. We got two new carbon-style Pelagos pieces including the first chronograph in the line as a result of this.
Unfortunately, there has been no word as to whether this partnership will introduce a new brand dedicated watch and considering that the advertising features a Black Bay Ceramic Master Chronometer, it looks to be a way off yet. Who knows, we might even see a return of the Big Block Prince Chronograph that Tudor showed off at Only Watch 2023?
March 2nd marks Formula 1’s return and VCARB’s debut in Bahrain. With Formula 1 more popular than it’s ever been, Tudor will certainly have more eyes on them than ever before.
