No secrets here – the pandemic-fueled hype train that had us all speculating on watch prices has finally hit the brakes.

While most of our beloved timepieces were taking a dip in value (we’re talking a 12% average drop over the past year), two Rolex champs have decided to dance to their own tune.

Enter the Rolex GMT Master-II Ref. 126710BLRO and the Rolex Lady-Datejust Ref. 69173 – the rebels. Instead of joining the decline party, these bad boys and girls have been gaining in value over the past 12 months.

The Subdial market tracker, which keeps tabs on around 50 different watches (including 45 from Rolex, five from Patek Philippe, and a lone ranger from Audemars Piguet), confirms it – these Rolexes are holding their ground.

The reasons for its success are still up in the air – some say it’s a nod to an uptick in women joining the watch party.

But, my fellow watch enthusiasts, don’t uncork the champagne just yet. The pre-owned watch market is still doing the limbo, trying to find its bottom. The waiting game continues as we watch (pun intended) the twists and turns in this horological rollercoaster.
