One of Two Lamborghini Diablo SV Roadsters Up For Auction at Sotheby’s

Rare cars are a dime a dozen. Wait, no, that’s not right. But with all the rare cars hitting auction it feels like they’re everywhere. Obviously, that’s not the case and this 1998 Lamborghini Diablo SV Roadster is one of only two factory made examples made by the marque whose exclusivity will ensure a monumental price tag when it hits auction at Sotheby’s.

What makes this car so special? As mentioned, it’s one of just two factory-built examples to feature rear wheel drive, a removable roof, manual gearbox, and an iconic “Roadster Giallo” paintjob.

Standout features include exposed carbon fibre, a revised rear wing, and upgraded front suspension lift kit system. The interior is almost as striking as the exterior with a “Nero Torpedo” Alcantara finish.

The drivetrain remains stock which means a V12 with around 530bhp and 450lb ft of torque powered through a manual six-speed gearbox. The top speed has stayed at 206mph as a result.

Sotheby’s have sealed the auction, so the price hasn’t been made clear. The average Diablo is selling for £200k to £400k, so it wouldn’t be surprising if this example broke half a million.
