Bremont Unveils the MBIII Stealth: A Limited-Edition Horological Marvel with Military Precision

The freshly unveiled Bremont MBIII Stealth is meticulously crafted to encapsulate an aviation-themed, military-inspired ambiance. ...

In adhering to the predominantly ebony aesthetic of its predecessor, the MBIII Rapha special edition, which graced the horological scene courtesy of Bremont last annum, the British horologists now present the latest gem in this exclusive lineage – the MBIII Stealth. Before we delve into the specifics of this Bremont-exclusive chronometer, allow me to provide a succinct recapitulation of the Martin-Baker collection saga.

Achieving membership in the exclusive Ejection Tie Club, administered by the esteemed ejection seat manufacturer Martin-Baker, is the coveted acknowledgment for those who have bravely ejected from a compromised aircraft. Presently boasting a roster of 7,715 members, this club endows its constituents with a distinctive tie, a tangible emblem of their shared aeronautical tribulations. Since 2009, members of the Ejection Tie Club have enjoyed the privilege of procuring the Bremont MBI, a resilient aviator’s timepiece forged through collaboration with Martin-Baker. This timepiece has been rigorously tested to endure the formidable shockwaves and G-forces associated with an aircraft ejection, among other adversities.

Within the Bremont Martin-Baker collection, the MBII, a civilian iteration aligned with the MBI in terms of design, functionality, and overall prowess but distinguished by subtle aesthetic nuances, was introduced. The year 2015 witnessed the incorporation of the MBIII into the series, departing from the day complication while retaining the date indication. It introduced a GMT hand, substituting the 60-minute bi-directional Roto Click inner bezel with a 24-hour variant. This novel timepiece preserves the hallmark features of the MB series while exuding a distinct “tactical” allure.

The freshly unveiled Bremont MBIII Stealth is meticulously crafted to encapsulate an aviation-themed, military-inspired ambiance. The 43mm diameter stainless steel case, treated with DLC for a stealthy demeanor, adheres to Bremont’s Trip-Tick three-piece architecture. It boasts a heavily textured jet-black aluminum barrel and a stainless steel DLC-treated caseback featuring an exhibition crystal. Measuring 15.5mm in thickness, with a lug-to-lug span of 50mm and a lug width of 22mm, the case integrates a soft iron Faraday inner cage and an elastomer anti-shock dampener – standard elements in the MB series. The bi-directional Roto Click 24-hour inner bezel is manipulated by the crown at 2 o’clock, while the crown at 4 o’clock facilitates setting and winding functions, both distinguished by a knurled surface for facile grip and top logo embellishment.

Shielded by a domed sapphire crystal, the obsidian dial ensures optimal legibility with luminous white printed markers. The sword and GMT hands, also treated with Super-LumiNova, grace the dial along with a red-tipped seconds hand. The latter features a distinctive Martin-Baker design, boasting a yellow and black striped “ejection seat pull” counterweight. The small date aperture resides unobtrusively at 3 o’clock, contributing to an overall aesthetic reminiscent of a sophisticated flight instrument.

The clandestine allure extends to the caseback, featuring a smoked display crystal that offers a tinted view of the shock-mounted “caller” GMT movement – a modified iteration of Bremont’s BE-93-2AE automatic chronometer (ETA 2892-A2 base). This movement, ISO 3159 certified, delivers a 50-hour reserve and boasts a customized rotor for an added touch of exclusivity.

Adorning the wrist is the MBIII Stealth, snugly embraced by a black-on-black high-performance bi-material (rubber and leather) Chalgrove strap, christened after Martin-Baker’s site at Chalgrove Airfield in Oxfordshire. This robust and ergonomic strap, endowed with enhanced moisture resistance, secures itself with a DLC pin buckle.

The Bremont MBIII Stealth, presented as a limited edition of 50, stands as an exclusive online and in-store offering, priced at EUR 5,700. The brand’s website assures pre-Christmas delivery to Europe for orders placed by Thursday, December 14.
