Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 20th Anniversary: A Timeless Classic Reimagined

Tissot is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its classic Le Locle collection....

Tissot, the renowned Swiss watchmaker with a history dating back to 1853, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its classic Le Locle collection. Founded in the picturesque town of Le Locle, Switzerland, Tissot has been a symbol of Swiss watchmaking excellence for over a century and a half. In 2003, the brand marked its 150th anniversary by introducing the Le Locle collection, paying homage to its rich heritage. Now, two decades later, Tissot is celebrating the enduring success of this iconic line with a special edition watch.

The Le Locle collection has always embodied classic elegance. With its round case, polished surfaces, compact dimensions, absence of luminescence on the hands, and Roman numerals on the dial, it exudes sophistication and refinement. It’s a watch that appeals to those with a penchant for classic styles and individuals who prefer to maintain a low profile in the office.

In recent years, Tissot has given the Le Locle collection a contemporary makeover, infusing modernity into its design and enhancing its mechanical features. The Le Locle Powermatic 80 20th Anniversary edition is no exception, offering a blend of tradition and innovation.

With a 39mm case constructed from polished stainless steel, complemented by vertically-brushed surfaces on the flanks, this watch strikes a perfect balance between style and subtlety. Its slim profile, measuring just under 10mm, allows it to slip effortlessly under a shirt cuff. While it may not be suitable for a dip in the pool, its 30-meter water resistance makes it ideal for office wear.

A sapphire crystal protects the dial, and the case back features a unique split see-through window adorned with intricate literature, logos, and engravings. It’s a testament to the craftsmanship and attention to detail that Tissot brings to its timepieces.

The anniversary edition showcases a revamped dial with an embossed Clous de Paris pattern at the center. The chapter ring, adorned with applied Roman hour numerals, features a sunray-brushed finish. What sets this edition apart is the striking blue color applied to the Roman numerals and leaf-shaped hands, which is also found on the additional leather strap included in the presentation box.

Powering the Le Locle Powermatic 80 20th Anniversary is the reliable Powermatic 80 caliber, a movement used across Tissot’s range. It’s a significant evolution of the classic 2824 architecture, with a reworked kinetic chain and a lower regulating organ frequency of 3Hz, resulting in a robust 80-hour power reserve. Additionally, the escapement boasts a Nivachron hairspring, offering anti-magnetic properties.

This special edition watch comes with a blue faux-alligator leather strap and a 7-link steel bracelet with a folding clasp. It’s a versatile timepiece that can be dressed up or down to suit any occasion.

The Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 20th Anniversary Edition is now available from Tissot and its authorized retailers. The best part? It’s not a limited production, and it’s priced at EUR 775, CHF 675, or USD 750.
