The Creed legacy lives on with Michael B. Jordan once again donning the dual hat of star and director for the highly anticipated Creed IV. This news doesn’t come as a shock, considering the blockbuster success of the previous Creed film which became the highest grossing film in the series.
In exclusive videos shared by Deadline on X, series producer Irwin Winkler spilled the beans about the upcoming installment, hinting at a production kickoff in about a year. Winkler revealed, “We are planning to do Creed IV right now,” highlighting the quality of the storyline and plot. Despite some delays due to strikes, the team is gearing up for pre-production in approximately a year.
While details about Creed IV’s plot, cast, and release date remain under wraps, Winkler couldn’t contain the secret about Michael B. Jordan’s return as director, teasing, “I’m not supposed to say, but he will be.”
A noteworthy chapter in Jordan’s career, Creed III not only saw him in the director’s chair but also reprising his role as Adonis “Donnie” Creed, son of the legendary Apollo Creed.
The Creed series, a spin-off of the iconic Rocky saga, unfolds Adonis’s journey in the boxing world, exploring the profound impact on his family and the legacy inherited from his father’s greatest rival, Rocky Balboa. Reflecting on the creative forces behind Creed III and Jordan’s extensive involvement, Winkler delved into the enduring strength and success of the Rocky franchise.
Winkler shared, “Michael and the creative team had the beautiful vision from the start to create a wholly new and different experience for this movie.”
He emphasized the need for the film to be rooted in the essence of the Creed and Rocky movies, combining great action and boxing with a deeper examination of the characters.
As of now, no official release date for Creed IV has been disclosed, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next chapter in this cinematic saga.
