Don’t look directly at it but Rolls Royce have just launched a limited edition Black Badge Ghost model, the Ghost Ekleipsis. An all-black body with just a tad of orange peeking out from its corners, taking direct inspiration from a solar eclipse.

Rolls Royce have timed this release with a solar eclipse taking place on October 14th in the Western hemisphere, though despite this release date, all 25 examples have already been spoken for.

Inside, they’ve modified the starlight headliner with 940 LED “stars” to recreate the eclipse over a seven-and-a-half-minute window, the longest possible duration of an eclipse. Once this is over, a further 192 lights are used to recreate the night sky.

These stars extend to the dashboard with 1,846 laser-etched stars that Rolls Royce say took over 100 hours to complete.

Alongside those stars on the dash is a bespoke timepiece that incorporates a 0.5-carat brilliant cut diamond position to reflect light at specific time to coincide with the animation on the dash.

The seats are leather done in a two-tone style with black and “mandarin” orange with unique artwork decorated with over 200,000 individual perforations.

Other than that, this is the same Ghost you should expect – a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 engine producing 563bhp.
