We’re back once again to determine who were the winners and losers on the 2023 MTV VMAs red carpet.
Winner - Megan thee Stallion
Another stunning win for Megan with this full length corset inspired dress. It’s a traditional black dress but with just enough added spice to give that Megan flavour.
Loser - Doja Cat
Unfortunately, despite admiring Doja Cat’s sartorial experimentation, this outfit looks like a cobweb that needs to be dusted out of the corner. It’s clear that a cobweb is the inspiration, but the execution is leaving a little to be desired.
Loser - Kyle Gordon
Jerry Seinfeld might have been able to look like this in the 90s, but there’s no excuse in 2023. Go home and think about what you’ve done Kyle.
Winner - Karol G
How do you make a sheer dress that much better? Add a large coat that echoes the texture of the dress.
Winner - Demi Lovato
Lesson: how to take the 80s powersuit and mix it with a bit of vampire to make it work for 2023.
Loser - Aryeè The Gem
There are too many different patterns and textures to the point where you don’t even know where to look. It’s a big ol’ mess.
Loser - Markell Washington
This is so close to working, but those ruffles, while interesting, are giving French aristocrat vibes in the wrong ways. The blue suit on its own would have been fabulous, as well as the boots.
Loser - Cardi B
We love unique materials in fashion, but this just looks like a bunch of hair clips glued together. It’s very Mugler-esque but it isn’t quite there. Still it’s an interesting outfit.
Winners - Maneskin
Little bit of gender-bending, a little glamour, and a little bit of coordination have gone a long way to making Maneskin one of the best dressed groups of the night.
Loser - Chanel West Coast
Von Dutch called and even they said this should have stayed in 2005.
Winner - Saweetie
I’m sure Wilma Flinstone is calling Saweetie for some fashion tips.
Winner - Colton Haynes
Sophisticated yet elevated (literally). It’s something that so easily could have been boring but the addition of the skirt (train?) and chunky shoes really make this work.
Loser - AP Dhillon
Unfortunately for AP Dhillon, he looks like a cow hide you’d furnish a living room with.
Loser - Doechii
Where to begin? This is a bunch of ideas all conflicting with each other without any kind of purpose. Is she ratchet? Is she a trucker? Does she know how to wear leg warmers? We only have questions and Doechii isn’t giving us any answers.
Winner - Taylor Swift
Taylor’s look is simple yet effective. Nothing too flash, but you could hardly call it bad.
Loser - Nicki Minaj
Nicki, enough with the bridal looks. This is better than the last, but enough is enough.
