Leclerc “Hopes it’s Possible” Suzuka Proves Singapore Wasn’t a One-Off for Ferrari

“I really hope it’s possible to reproduce that [result] in Suzuka,” Leclerc told the media in Singapore. ...

Ferrari’s performance has been very solid since Zandvoort and Singapore saw their first win of 2023. They’re actually the only team to win a race besides Red Bull this season, but that success hasn’t come without struggle. Charles Leclerc hopes that if the team can continue their successful run of races, it will be a good sign for the future.

Ferrari abandoned their original concept once they realised they had reached a developmental dead-end. They introduced a new concept at the Spanish Grand Prix and have seen significant gains in performance especially after the summer break.

Leclerc was candid in saying that he didn’t expect Ferrari to be strong in Singapore, conceding that the Ferrari’s main strengths are found at low downforce circuits. Despite that, the team were absolutely brilliant, though he acknowledged that Singapore is a historically strong track for Ferrari.

“I really hope it’s possible to reproduce that [result] in Suzuka,” Leclerc told the media in Singapore.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing it because if we do that, then it’s a really good sign for the future. As I’ve said in Zandvoort, we’ve done many tests. In Monza, we wanted to reconfirm those tests and the understanding we had from the car, from here, we applied everything and it seemed to do a big step forward.

“Having said that, Singapore has historically been a very good track for us so we need to wait one more race to see whether we have done a really good step forward consistently, or whether it’s [a] one-off.”
