Tom Ford Drops $52m on Jackie Kennedy’s Former Hamptons Mansion

Tom Ford purchased the former childhood summer home of Jackie Kennedy for $52 million....

After selling his eponymous label for $2.8 billion USD, Tom Ford has been on a spending spree with his most recent purchase being quite choice bit of real estate. According to The Wall Street Journal, Ford spent $52 million on the purchase of the former childhood summer home of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis when it was under the ownership of her grandfather, John Vernou Bouvier Jr.

The 8,500-square-foot mansion was built in 1917 by architect, Arthur C. Jackson, and sits atop seven acres. It was bought by the Bouviers in 1925 and was named “Lasata” in the native Algonquian language meaning “place of peace”.

Since then, the home has passed through several hands. In 2006, it was purchased by former Coach Creative director, Reed Krakoff and his wife for $20 million. The couple significantly renovated the mansion. The property’s most recent owner before Ford was producer, David Zander, who purchased it for $24 million in 2018.

The house itself has eight bedrooms and 13 bathrooms while also including a two-bedroom guest house guest house, pool house, a caretaker’s cottage, and a three-car garage with a workshop.

This is latest addition to Ford’s expansive portfolio. In December 2022, Ford purchased a mansion in Palm Beach for $55 million, setting the record for largest non-waterfront sale in Palm Beach history.

This isn’t even first bit of real estate formerly owned by fashion royalty as in 2019, he purchased Halston’s Manhattan townhouse for $18 million and has since been renovating and restoring it.
