According to The Wall Street Journal, Ford spent $52 million on the purchase of the former childhood summer home of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis when it was under the ownership of her grandfather, John Vernou Bouvier Jr.

The 8,500-square-foot mansion was built in 1917 by architect, Arthur C. Jackson, and sits atop seven acres. It was bought by the Bouviers in 1925 and was named “Lasata” in the native Algonquian language meaning “place of peace”.
