Twitter has been in a state of crisis since Elon Musk’s purchase. Regardless of one’s opinion of Musk, his decisions related to the text-based social media platform have caused users to leave in droves, particularly the recent limit on how many Tweets users can read. To pick up the pieces, Meta has stepped in with their own platform, “Threads”.
Threads has been developed by the team at Instagram and while it isn’t focused on photos and video, it does allow users to follow and engage with accounts they already follow on Instagram.

The app allows likes, comments, reposts, and shares while allowing customisation of a post’s audience, similar to Instagram’s close friends feature.
The official description reads, “Say more with Threads – Instagram’s text-based conversation app. Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow. Whatever it is you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favourite creators and others who love the same things – or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions, and creativity with the world.”
Perhaps the most attractive aspect is the Instagram integration allowing you to port over all your followers and following lists. Users won’t have to build followings from the ground up.
