Another full moon, another Moonswatch. True to Swatch’s promise a new Moonswatch has appeared to commemorate the June full moon, and this one has a fruity twist to it.
The full moon of June is nicknamed the Strawberry Moon, which you’d be forgiven for not knowing, but it’s true. According to NASA, The Maine Farmers’ Almanac started publishing the Native American names for full moons back in the 1930s, most of which are still known and in use today. This Almanac states that the June full moon was called the Strawberry Moon by the Algonquin tribes who used to occupy the northeastern U.S. The name derives from the relatively short season for strawberry harvesting in the area.

Now there’s a fun bit of trivia for your next pub quiz.
The funny thing about this release is that it missed its June date and was released on July 3rd, which is a full moon, but it isn’t the Strawberry Moon which occurs on June 3rd. However, the watch was produced during the Strawberry Moon, well, the Moonshine Gold seconds hand was produced then as per the “Full Moon Production Certificate”.
Oh, by the way, did we mention that there are strawberries printed on the seconds hand? It’s a bit more noticeable than the Pink Full Moon we saw in May, and we would argue that it’s better.
Keep in mind, the seconds hand isn’t crafted from 18k Moonshine gold, but is spread over the chronographs seconds in a micron thin layer.
For whatever reason this hasn’t been launched on the brand’s website or anything like that, it’s just on Instagram. These are likely the same price as the previous Mission to Moonshine’s at around $435 AUD.
