Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are working together again and their upcoming project, Air, will depict Nike’s game-changing partnership with Michael Jordan. While nowadays this deal seems like a no-brainer, but back then, as Marlon Wayans as George Raveling said, “There’s nothing cool about Nike.”
Amazon has just dropped the first trailer for Air which premieres April 5 in select cinemas in the U.S shortly followed by a streaming release on Amazon Prime Video.
According to the film’s logline, “This moving story follows the career-defining gamble of an unconventional team with everything on the line, the uncompromising vision of a mother who knows the worth of her son’s immense talent, and the basketball phenom who would become the greatest of all time.”
The film will follow Affleck’s Vaccaro who is doing everything he can to grow Nike’s basketball footprint, but meets resistance from company higher-ups.
Affleck and Damon star as Nike executive, Sonny Vaccaro, and Nike co-founder, Phil Knight, respectively. Viola Davis will star alongside the pair as Michael Jordan’s mother, Deloris Jordan.
Additional roles include Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Chris Messina as David Falk, Chris Tucker as Howard White, Matthew Maher as Peter Moore, Gustaf Skarsgård as Horst Dassler, and Julius Tennon as James Jordan.
This will be Affleck’s return to directing after 2016’s Live by Night and 2012’s Oscar-wining Argo.
