Williams Team Principal Capito and Technical Director Demaison Depart Team

Key Williams figures, Jost Capito and FX Demaison, are stepping down from their respective roles effective immediately. ...

Things look like they will be shaken up at Williams with the announcement that CEO and team principal, Jost Capito, and technical director, Francois-Xavier “FX” Demaison, will be leaving their posts with immediate effect.

Capito was appointed to his roles shortly after Dorilton Capital bought the team from the Williams family in 2020.

Captio, the former Volkswagen director of motorsport, was set to retire before accepting the job at Williams so this isn’t a surprise for many in the organisation.

Dorilton Capital chairman, Matthew Savage, suggests as much, “We would like to thank Jost for his hard work and dedication as we embarked on a major transformation process to begin the journey of reviving Williams Racing.

“We’re grateful that Jost postponed his planned retirement to take on this challenge and now he will pass the reins on for the next part of this staged process. We would also like to thank FX for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future as he moves on.”

For his part, Captio seems happy with the progress the team, “It has been a huge privilege to lead Williams Racing for the last two seasons and to lay the foundations for the turnaround of this great team. I look forward to watching the team as it continues on its path to future success.”

Williams stated that the announcement of a new team principal and technical director will arrive soon.
