While not everyone may be familiar with Patta, most are familiar with Tommy Hilfiger and their affiliation with 90s hip-hop. The Dutch streetwear label, Patta, are heavily inspired by Black culture, so putting the two together just makes sense.
This isn’t the first time the pair have worked together but their first collection together was such a success that they’ve decided to do it again for Fall/Winter 2022. Both brands are paying homage to their streetwear history by focusing on the heritage of the New York hip-hop scene.
As Patta co-founder, Guillaume ‘Gee’ Schmidt, told Highsnobiety, “The collection is basically an ode to New York City and the nineties, one of the golden eras of hip-hop. The city has been instrumental for both brands, as has the genre and its culture.”
The brands have brought on two New York artists, Wiki and Mike, alongside the incredibly renowned music producer, The Alchemist, to put together an original track, “One More”, for the campaign.
The collection itself features t-shirts, hoodies, and denim, you know, all things streetwear. You can see from the cuts and colours that they are very 90s in the best way possible.
As Schmidt explains, “We kept it straightforward. We created items that are reminiscent of items that were both timeless and relevant in the nineties, but that are still relevant today – and of course we made sure to incorporate a baggy fit.”
