It’s been 17 years since the last Zorro film, 2005’s The Legend of Zorro, and in a discussion with Comic Book, former Zorro star, Antonio Banderas, is ready for another one. Though he doesn’t want it to be the same as before.
Banderas was asked if he would return as the masked hero and was enthusiastic, “Yes, I would, I would consider that possibility, why not?”
Banderas continued and said that he would want to pass the torch to a new Zorro, “If they called me to do Zorro, I would do what Anthony Hopkins did for me, which is to pass the torch.”
In that chat, the actors suggested that he would like to see someone like Tom Holland in the role, “I did Uncharted with him, and he’s so energetic and fun, and he’s got this spark too. Why not?”
There are currently not even rumours of a Zorro reboot or sequel in the works, so right now, this is all just talk. Tom Holland can certainly do all the physical aspects of the role, however, Zorro is a Mexican character, and casting a British man may rub people the wrong way.
