Pierre Gasly Is Not Going To Alpine (Despite No One Asking)

Pierre Gasly doesn't have an exit clause in his contract with AlphaTauri as confirmed by Helmut Marko. ...

While Alpine have a seat available that seat is not going to Pierre Gasly. Despite these rumours not getting the attention of the Oscar Piastri/Alpine drama, they had enough of a presence to get a response from Helmut Marko. That response? A firm no.

A report had claimed that Gasly had an exit clause in his contract should another team, one better placed in the rankings, offer him a seat.

Red Bull motorsport advisor, Helmut Marko, told German publication, Sport1, that:

“There is no exit clause for Gasly, there was none before the summer break and there will be none after the summer break.”

AlphaTauri team principal, Franz Tost, added: “It makes no sense for Red Bull to let Pierre go. If a Red Bull driver fails, there is no other adequate driver who can step in. Only Gasly can do that.”

While Red Bull threw out Gasly due to his underperformance with the team, Marko is still a fan of the Frenchman.

“Pierre is very talented,” he said. “He thinks everything through carefully and is very focused. With the right car, he can be at the forefront. That is our job now.”

Gasly currently sits at P13 in the driver standings with just 16 points, well short of last year’s standings. In part, this can be explained by a poor AlphaTauri package.
