The Harry Potter series is considered sacred by many fans today and talks of a reboot can cause a frenzy of hate. The Harry Potter series doesn’t need a reboot just yet, but Daniel Radcliffe, the boy who played Harry Potter, thinks it’s only a matter of time.

Speaking to IGN, Radcliffe says he’s “sure there will be some other version of it; I know I’m not the last Harry Potter I’m gonna see in my lifetime – we’ve already got a few more.”

By “a few more” he means Jamie Parker and Gareth Reeves who played adult versions of the character in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play.

Radcliffe doesn’t think this is a bad thing as he implies that it’s basically an inevitability:

“It will be interesting to see how long those films stay… it feels like there’s a sacredness around them at the moment, but that’ll go, the shine will wear off at some point. It’ll be interesting if they reboot them and just do the films again or do a series; I’m fascinated to watch.”

If a reboot is inevitable, some time will be required. For many, the original series is still too fresh to simply be rebooted in the same format. More likely, as has been the recent trend, studios may attempt to turn Harry Potter into a television series. Given that premium television has no shortage of budget, and that Harry Potter is already an established franchise, there’s little risk. However, the negative reception to the Fantastic Beasts prequel series and J.K. Rowling’s diminishing status amongst certain communities, there may be more risk than initially presumed.
