Ever been curious what the Corleone family house from The Godfather looks like inside? What about what it looks like now? Now we can thanks to celebratory Airbnb listing for the 1972 film’s 50th anniversary.
The 6,248-sqaure-foot English Tudor mansion located in Staten Island, New York has five bedrooms, and seven bathrooms is currently estimated to be worth $2.4 million USD.
While it is still recognisable as the house from the film, it has been renovated since it was built in 1930. It still looks like the exterior filming location used for that famous wedding of Connie Corleone, but there are some differences.
In the film, the interiors were shot at Filmways Studios in Harlem, rather than in the house itself. It also doesn’t have the big stone walls and fortifications as those were made of plastic for the purpose of filming.
If legends can be believed, it was Giani Russo, who played Carlo Rizzi, who grew up in Staten Island and recommended the property to the producers. As an additional bit of trivia, the film says the house is located in Long Island, but no you can find it at 110 Longfellow Avenue, Staten Island.
The remodelled garden has a saltwater pool now so you can’t quite recreate the wedding even if you wanted to. But there’s more on offer here; a game room, gym, outdoor fire pit and pizza oven, and a basement pub.
The interior décor is both what you would expect from a house like this with ornate headboards on the beds and the like, but then there’s the gym in a bright green room that feels like a child’s room having undergone some repurposing.
You can no longer book to stay here as those anniversary bookings disappeared quickly, but we can still take a little peek into what could have been a mobster’s stronghold.
