Seiko are a darling in the watch world. Not only are they great entry level watches (with deluxe options at Grand Seiko), but they are well made, for their price point. Seiko often do region exclusives and while it sucks to miss out on them, it does feel good when they’re available in your region. Thankfully, Seiko have just given Australia two limited edition watches in the Prospex range.

“Eucalyptus” SRPJ53K

The Seiko “Eucalyptus” SRPJ53K Limited Edition works with the tones of the Australian bush, focusing on eucalyptus leaves. This influence is most obvious on the dial with its gum-tree-green colour. A great addition to the green watch trend by introducing a little brown into the mix. The addition of the gold-coloured seconds hand is a nice touch reminiscent of the yellow/orange on a gum leaf. It’s an effective horological representation of a gum leaf that will leave Aussie watch lovers in awe.

The 45mm “Eucalyptus” is water resistant up to 200m and is powered by the 4R36 movement that has a 41-hour power reserve.

Limited to just 1,000 pieces it arrives with a stainless-steel bracelet and an additional green rubber strap. Pricing is $895

“Noosa” SPB347J

The Seiko “Noosa” SPB347J Limited Edition, aesthetically, isn’t amazing. It’s another blue faced divers watch but this time it’s evocative of the waters off the Sunshine Coast. It’s a perfectly fine watch but it isn’t as exciting as the “Eucalyptus.” Which will likely mean that it will sell faster than the green variant.

The black and blue dial is very nice, and it does set itself apart from other blue dive watches with a shifting dial colour. It starts with a dark navy or even black at 12 o’clock that fades into a much lighter blue at 6 o’clock. It’s a good effect but it isn’t as effective as the “Eucalyptus.”

This does have a higher specification movement, the 6R35, that delivers a 72-hour power reserve. So while this may cost more than the “Eucalyptus,” at $1,500, it does earn it.

The “Noosa” also features 200m water resistance, luminescent markers and hands, and a solid caseback. It’s also limited to 1,000 pieces as well.

Both watches are available for pre-order now via their website and boutiques.
