The Greenwood Hotel in partnership with the North Sydney Council have presented a winter extravaganza at the Greenwood Plaza in North Sydney. It’s fun for the whole family, but also for a few of the boys.
Think about this, it’s a cold Friday evening and you’ve just clocked off. You’re hungry and more than a little thirsty after the work week. What do you do? Head over to the Greenwood Hotel, have a few beers, enjoy decent pub food, and go ice skating. Then inevitably land on your arse and cop the banter from your mates.
The ice rink is the main draw here, and do you know the best part? It’s free! The ice rink is equipped with learn-to-skate coaches, live music, and flame-throwing figure skating performances.
We caught one of those figure skating performances and it is absolutely a good time. The girls know what they’re doing and give Disney on Ice a run for their money especially with their impressive pyrotechnics. However, the fire show only appears on Thursday and Friday nights from 5-7pm.
This isn’t exclusive to a hangout with the boys, the whole family can enjoy this. Especially on Saturdays when there is a family-friendly Frozen show from 11am to 1pm. When the show is over kids of all ages can enjoy the ice rink while mum and dad enjoy a glass.

There’s something for everyone on the menu from pub favourites, like chicken schinitzel, to pizza and burgers. They also have specials including BBQ Pork Poutine (pulled pork, pickled jalapeno, cheese curd, and fries) and Honey Baked Camembert Fondue (200g Barossa camembert, smoked cabanossi, cornichons, rosemary and garlic croutons, spiced walnuts, pear).
Not only are there food specials but also drink specials! There are a tonne of Fireball shot selections to keep you warm, but if shots aren’t really your style, there’s hot chocolate with the option of added Baileys or Sheepdog Peanut Butter Whiskey. Cheeky.
Maybe you’re after a long work lunch mid-week, then you will be able to enjoy live music from 11am to 2pm.
Taking out the whole office this weekend isn’t a problem either with functions packages for up to 70 people. The package includes:
- ½ hour exclusive rink hire, including skates and safety-aids
- Complimentary skate coach to teach you the basics
- Patron cocktail on arrival for each guest
- Snow Festival canape package, valued at $35pp
- Exclusive area and bar for the duration of your event
We thoroughly enjoy our time so we would recommend this highly. But you have to get in quick because it ends July 30! Bookings are essential because demand is high!
