HBO have been working with Teton Gravity Research to produce a four-part documentary series all about the crazy, nuts, wild, and insane world of extreme sports.

Edge of the Earth will focus on ten elite athletes performing four missions across four continents, giving viewers “four tales of adventure.”

HBO’s official description reads, “Taking place around the globe – within awe-inspiring, undiscovered realms of nature – each instalment of the series features a different team of adventurers journeying into the wild to take on incredible endeavours of physical prowess and mental fortitude.

“As the athletes venture up and down mountains, down rivers, and across oceans, they rise to meet intense, life-threatening challenges that test their decision-making and athletic capacity. Pushing the boundaries of their abilities in an attempt to accomplish what no other human has done before, they face the ultimate consequence, or the ultimate reward.

Edge of the Earth features jaw-dropping aerial photography and immersive video in some of the world’s least accessible and rarely seen locations.

“Taking part are snowboarders Jeremy Jones and Elena Hight, and skier Griffin Post; kayakers Ben Stookesberry, Nouria Newman, and Erik Boomer; climbers Emily Harrington and Adrian Ballinger; and surfers Ian Walsh and Grant ‘Twiggy’ Baker.”

Episode one will feature the snowboarders braving the heights of Glacier Bay National Park of Alaska.

Episode two will feature the kayakers attempting to navigate Ecuador’s Chalupas River. This is the first time anyone has attempted the run.

Episode three will show the climbers attempt to ascend the “unclimbable” granite tower of Pik Slesova in Kyrgyzstan.

Episode four, the final episode, will show our two surfers attempting the wild waves of South Africa’s West Coast.

Edge of the Earth is directed by Steven and Todd Jones of Teton Gravity Research. Drew Holt is the producer, Nancy Abraham, Lisa Heller, and Bentley Weiner of HBO are executive producers with Abtin Matia as coordinating producer.

The premiere is set for July 12 in the U.S. and will hit Binge in Australia around the same time.
