If there is one watch that Tudor gave the spotlight to, it’s undoubtedly the Black Bay, gaining four new references.
Who doesn’t love a Tudor Black Bay? No one, that’s who. That’s also probably why Tudor went all in on the Black Bay for Watches and Wonders 2022. Four new references for the Black Bay alone and, for the most part, they’re fantastic!
Black Bay Pro
This is a new technical model from Tudor that brings a whole new aesthetic to the Black Bay. I didn’t think the Black Bays could get any sportier but here we are. This watch features a 39mm diameter, fixed steel bezel, and a Manufacture Calibre with built-in GMT function. I love the black and off-white, almost yellow, markings. It comes with either a stainless-steel bracelet or a nylon strap and both work very well.
Black Bay GMT
This was maybe one of the only predictions we actually got right but within the community this watch was almost a given. It looks pretty damn fresh too with a similar dial colour as the Pro, but the dual-tone bezel really elevates the piece. The GMT is fitted with the Manufacture Calibre MT5652, and a 24-hour graduated rotating bezel.
Black Bay Chrono
The Black Bay Chrono looks okay on its stainless-steel bracelet but on the leather strap, wow, now that’s hot. The watch is very sports-chic, and the added chronograph is a nice additional piece of functionality. It features a high-performance automatic Manufacture Calibre with column wheel and vertical clutch.
Black Bay 31, 36, 39, and 41 S&G
These four models are a unique look to the Black Bay line with curved cases and polished yellow gold sections. These are a departure from the usual Black Bay shape but it opens the way for a more sophisticated, versatile, and unisex look. It’s a fun take that kind of looks similar to a Rolex Milgauss.
These are versatile and small but, I can’t put my finger on why I don’t like these very much. It features and integrated metal bracelet, notched or diamond-set bezel and automatic movement. It’s versatile and affordable but I’m just not really a fan of diamond set watches.
