An icon has been reborn with 13 new references! The Breitling Navitimer is certainly something to get excited over.
What can be said about these new Navitimers? Well, they certainly look like a Breitling watch ought to look and the different colour and sizing options is a nice change. It’s strange to see a big watchmaker that isn’t Swatch make so many options available all at once but I’m here for it.
I could go through each watch one at a time, but they all share such similar traits it would be redundant. The case sizes come in at 46mm, 43mm, and 41mm. Each watch comes in either stainless steel or red gold.

These pilot’s watches all share the same three sub-dials, and the same in-house COSC-certified B01 automatic chronograph movement. The real differences come in the colour options. Strangely enough, I don’t think any of them are truly ugly. There are some I prefer more than others but since Breitling have cast such a wide net with this release, you’re bound to find a colour scheme that fits you.
Breitling CEO, George Kern, said in a press release,
“We don’t throw the term ‘icon’ around lightly. The Navitimer is one the most recognisable watches ever made. It’s on collectors’ lists of the greatest watches of all time. What began as a tool for pilots has gone to mean something profound to every single person who has had this timepiece along on their personal journey.”

Given that it is such an icon hailing from the mid-20th century, it retains all the classic elements of previous Navitimers. You’ve got the circular slide rule, chronograph counters, baton indexes, and a notched bezel. However, there is an added date function at the 6 o’clock position.

Breitling are doing really well at hitting the retro-watch niche and people seem to be responding. I certainly am. These will be available from April 2022 with prices ranging from $9,400 (approx. $12,500 AUD) to $39,500 USD ($52,500 AUD).
