The largest watchmaking summit, Watches and Wonders, is returning on 30 March and will feature 38 exhibitors from Rolex to Zenith.
For those not in the know, Watches and Wonders is essentially a trade show for watchmakers to show off and announce their products. Members of the press, as well as fellow businesspeople attend to take a peek, spread the word, and maybe even grab a few pieces.
38 participating brands will be showing off their products including:
- Lange & Söhne
- Baume & Mercier
- Grand Seiko
- IWC Schaffhausen
- Parmigiani Fleurier
- Patek Philippe
- Roger Dubuis
- TAG Heuer
- Ulysse Nardin
- Vacheron Constantin
- Van Cleef & Arpels
- Armin Strom
- Arnold & Son
- Cyrus Genève
- Czapek & Cie
- Ferdinand Berthoud
- Moser & Cie.
- Laurent Ferrier

The event this year will not be solely digital, instead they are going for a hybridised physical and digital format.
Both Monochrome Watches and Bob’s Watches believe that Rolex will announce an updated version of the Milgauss. The watch is becoming outdated compared to its counterparts with Monochrome claiming that it has a thick case, lugs, and bezel while also have a very old movement. The more interesting reason, however, has to do with anti-magnetism. Rolex hasn’t kept up with Omega in this respect and if it doesn’t do something soon, Rolex may fall behind. Hence why there is an expectation that Rolex will announce something with anti-magnetism and the Milgauss may be the target (even if they change the name).
In what will certainly get people going is the possibility of a successor to Patek Philippe’s 5711 Nautilus. A lot of Philippe’s references are being discontinued including the Nautilus which is adding fuel to this fire. However, Patek Philippe president, Thierry Stern, told the New York Times that it was time for a hard reset as, “We cannot put a single watch on top of our pyramid.” So who really knows if they bother with this as it doesn’t seem to be their goal to just crank out stainless steel sports watches.
Tudor seem likely to produce a GMT version of the Black Bay 58 or at least the constant buzz on the internet seems to think this is likely but due to Longines releasing an alternative to the Black Bay GMT, it isn’t unlikely either. As well as this, a Tudor “Hulk” Black Bay 58 seems possible as Omega have launched a green Seamaster 300M.
It’s also likely that green dials will be a continued trend as well as smaller cases.
None of this is guaranteed as it’s almost all guesswork. We will find out on the 30 March!
