In celebration of lunar new year, Gucci have dropped the Gucci Tiger Collection and it’s pretty fresh.
Now usually when you hear about lunar new year capsules you tend to think, “Oh, that’s interesting but I’ll wait until the proper season drop.” That’s not the case here as the Gucci Tiger Collection is no joke.
The whole campaign was actually conceived by Gucci’s Creative Director, Alessandro Michele. It’s the real deal here as there is no way that Michele is going to let a tiger motif go to waste as the man just loves tigers. They’ve been on Gucci’s stuff before and they have certainly been present in much of Michele’s work.
These new floral prints accompanying the tiger are a reimagination of the late 60s archival design by Vittorio Accornero. Accornero is the artist and illustrator behind Gucci’s iconic “Flora” design.

The collection features everything from outerwear, jackets, knitwear, denim, t-shirts, and dresses. But that isn’t all. Also available are wallets and bags all featuring the unique designs. These accessories include sneakers, eyewear, silk accessories, and bags.
The brand’s philosophy surround sustainability is on full display here too. All the packaging for the Gucci Tiger Collection uses paper sourced from responsibly managed forests, the handles are all 100% recycled polyester, all the ribbons are 100% organic cotton, and the packaging is knotted so as to avoid using nasty glues.
There are also eco-friendly watches made from recycled steel and yellow gold PVD. Just between you and me though, I wouldn’t buy a watch from a fashion house. They often have huge mark-ups and the build quality is often not good enough to justify the price. The designs are cool though so maybe grab one if you’re just looking for a fashion statement.
