The 23-year-old rapper, Silento, was indicted by a grand jury on 3 August following the murder of his cousin, Frederick Roots.

Silento, born Ricky Lamar Hawk, was charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The former viral star has been in jail since February when he was linked to the fatal shooting of Frederick Roots. Roots’ body was discovered on 21 January lying in the road outside a home in the Panthersville area. He suffered gunshot wounds to his face and leg, and eight shell casings were found lying nearby by investigators.

The officers at the scene were able to gather video from several nearby security cameras. These videos showed multiple cars leave the scene at high speeds, and they managed to capture one gunshot. The police have not released a motive for the shooting.

Silento’s representative told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in February that Silento was suffering from mental health issues and that, “No matter what his charges are, he’s a human being and it doesn’t cost anything to pray for him and his family or send him positive vibrations. I hope people continue to have a little empathy.”
