Lamborghini have confirmed that the Countach name is making a return.

The new car was teased online by the Italian automobile manufacturer and has been named the Countach LPI 800-4. Guesses online have suggested that LPI indicates a hybrid powertrain as LPI has been seen on the 2015 Asterion hybrid concept. The numbers also suggest a possible base horsepower of 800 PS or 789bhp.

What the car will actually look like is still somewhat of a mystery as the Instagram photos only show us the gas cap and air vents as the rest of the car is hidden under a tarp. Judging by that tarp covered silhouette many have pointed out the more aggressive angles and elongated rear.

It shouldn’t a surprise that this car will likely be a hybrid as Lamborghini has featured an electrification plan previously as Lamborghini CEO & President, Stephan Winkelmann, has stated,

“Lamborghini’s electrification plan is a newly-plotted course, necessary in the context of a radically changing world, where we want to make our contribution by continuing to reduce environmental impact through concrete projects. Our response is a plan with a 360-degree approach, encompassing our products and our Sant’Agata Bolognese location, taking us towards a more sustainable future, while always remaining faithful to our DNA.”

We will get to see the new Countach on August 15 during Monterey Car Week.
