Hit Disney + series, Loki has lost its director and executive producer, Kate Herron, for season two.

Herron told Deadline that she’s “not returning.” She continued,

“I always planned to be just on for this, and to be honest, Season 2 wasn’t in the — that’s something that just came out, and I’m so excited. I’m really happy to watch it as a fan next season, but I just think I’m proud of what we did here and I’ve given it my all. I’m working on some other stuff yet to be announced.”

When pressed whether this “other stuff” is another Marvel project, but Herron said nothing of the sort, “No, I’m just focused on my own stuff at the moment. I love Marvel and I’d love to work with them again, but my outing with Loki is what I’ve done with them.”

It seems that the post-credit teaser the show presented viewers at the end of its finale was not the original plan.

It’s unfortunate considering the wide amount of praise the show has received. It currently holds a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.6/10 on IMDB. Many have likened the show to Doctor Who and given that show’s enduring popularity, it’s a comparison that many should be happy with.

Hopefully Herron’s departure does not hurt the quality of the series going forward.

The series is available to stream in its entirety on Disney +.
